Ashville Viking Festival: A Living History Event

Merchant/Craft Policies:


Notice : Assuming all past venders are returning, we Currently have very few openings for additional merchants. read the below policies, and then contact us to see if there is an opening in the area you demonstrate or merchant in.

Vendor Information:

Booth space:  15’ X 15’ unless pre-arrangements are made.

This is a juried show.  All crafters must submit pictures or clear color copies of their work.  Items not represented by pictures will not be considered.  The craft coordinators reserve the right to delete specific items if they will cause excessive overlap with other merchants.  Please send enough photographs to give us an idea of the variety and quality of your work. We will look at photos on the web, send URL with application. If there is something special and unique about your product that makes it different from everyone else’s please make sure you let us know!  If you would like to add additional descriptions or letters to your application those will be considered during the jurying of your application.

 

Our jury selection will begin November 30th and continue up to the festival.  We will normally notify you if you have been accepted within 30 days of receiving your application.  Applications will be reviewed on a first come first served bases.  We reserve the right to limit the number of similar items.  We believe that a variety of goods are better for everyone involved.  We are looking for works and products that are original and handcrafted, not commercially available kits.

Primitive camping spaces are available.  You must reserve space at the same time as booth space.

 

In keeping with the educational and Living History theme of the event, all booth personnel including spouses, children, and your employees MUST be in appropriate attire for the time period your goods represent.  Everyone should have the proper headdress and footwear.  The headdress may be a simple as a straw hat and footwear may be as simple as $5.00 tai-chi shoes.  NO SUNGLASSES, NO SMOKING in area’s where patrons are. Unusually colored hair, modern tattoos, piercing, tattoos and wristwatches are not to be visible. Attire should be in keeping with the family event nature of this festival.  You are responsible for the actions of your employees. Booths should be open and manned during festival hours.

 

All booths are expected to have visible period style signage.  A painted or carved wood sign or a prominently displayed fabric banner is recommended. A reasonable attempt to look period must be made.  Modern tables should be covered to conceal legs etc.   Displays should be in keeping with time period represented.  No plastic displays or containers should be visible in booth areas.  This is intended to be a historical reenactment event and all presentations should be in keeping with that purpose.

Spaces are generally 15’ X 15’.  Please note extra space needed an application form under booth description.  If you need additional space, this should be noted with the application. 

 

Sales tax is the sole responsibility of the crafter. It is understood that you have State of Ohio vendors lisc. or temp.  liscense.

 

Please remember, this is an outdoor festival and we will be open rain or shine.  Please prepare accordingly.  No pets on the festival site.

No Electricity is available. 

Your booth space is expected to be set up and ready by 9:30 A.M., with your booth personnel in appropriate attire, no vehicles on site after 9:30 A.M.  You may set up after 12:00 Noon Friday April 25th.  All items should be removed by dusk May 1st. unless previous arrangements have been made.

 We are planning on a participant’s feast Friday night.
Breakfast is available both Saturday and Sunday. Our food "Urchins" will start their rounds in the morning to take orders and deliver food.  Please remember, they are young!

Saturday Night there will be an event in the park with both entertainment and Food.

 

Note:  This festival has no patron entry fee.  Patrons are being asked to contribute a can of food to the local food pantry.  We are asking that merchants donate one item for a silent auction to defray costs.  If you can contribute, please indicate that on your form.
